Therapeutic  disclosure are complicated tasks for both couples and  therapists.  This workshop teaches a process developed and implemented by Richard Blankenship and Dr. Janice Stevens. Janice is a certified clinical partner specialist.  Richard and Janice are certified betrayal  trauma     specialists who have facilitated several hundred therapeutic disclosures.   Richard is a certified sexual & relational trauma therapist (CSRTT) and a certified problematic sexual behavior specialist (CPSBT).  Richard and his team of betrayal trauma therapists have facilitated over 500  disclosures with great success.  They bring a wealth of experience to this material.  It will involve a 6 hour interactive online workshop.  


Learning Objectives




  • Participants will be given a history of the disclosure process and it's roots in the sexual addiction industry.
  • Participants will be able to list 4 theoretical approaches to the concept of disclosure.
  • Participants will be able to describe elements of preparing the betrayed partner and the betrayer.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the process of emotional restitution
  • Participants will be able to discuss vicarious trauma as it relates to therapists and the therapeutic disclosure process.

Richard holds two masters degrees; an M.Ed. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an M.A. From Harding University Graduate School. Richard is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with the state of Georgia and a nationally certified counselor (NCC) with the National Board of Certified Counselors.  Richard is a certified professional counselor supervisor (CPCS), a certified problematic sexual behavior therapist supervisor (CPSBT-S), a certified sexual and relational trauma therapist supervisor (CSRTT-S), and a certified betrayal trauma specialist (CBTS).


Richard is the clinical director of Capstone Counseling and Coaching.  He serves on the board of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) where he chairs the credential committee.  Richard is one of the founders of the International Association of Certified Sexual Addiction Specialists (IACSAS) where he served as president for 13 years, and a founding board member of the Association for Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS) where he served for over 4 years. He developed the first graduate course to be taught on sexual addiction along with a colleague and guest lectures in a variety of University level courses. Richard is a frequent guest on Atlanta area radio & television programs dealing with problematic sexual behavior, betrayal trauma, and domestic violence. He is the author of 5 books including Spouses of Sex Addicts: Hope for the Journey (book and workbook) and A Journey Through Secrets.
